CorroShield L05 Corrosion Inhibitor Molybdate is mainly applied in secondary cooling water systems of Power Plants, in the cooling systems of blast furnaces, in systems for cooling the molds in continuous casting mills and in hot and cold water systems in the chemical industry. The program should be used with soft water, to avoid calcium phosphate deposition when the water losses are important.

Dosage

CorroShield L05 Corrosion Inhibitor is added neat or diluted to the cooling water. CorroShield L05 Corrosion Inhibitor can be mixed with water in any ratio.

Dosage requirements - The dosage rate is dependent on the system conditions and the amount of water lost from the system.

RXSOL CorroShield L05 should be applied at a dosage of 1% by volume (10 litres per m³) to achieve a reserve of 400-600 ppm sodium molybdate (equivalent to 310-450 ppm molybdate as MoO₄) and 400-600 ppm sodium nitrite (equivalent to 270-400 ppm nitrite as NO₂).

If the system pH is higher than 8, it may be necessary to adjust the pH separately by using a suitable pH conditioner; your RXSOL representative can provide guidance on this.

Where significant system passivation is required, a higher initial dosage may be needed in order to obtain the required inhibitor residual levels.

Where necessary, a biocide should also be applied, such as RXSOL MICRO BIOCIDE (RXSOL-40-4009-025).

Note: For all systems containing aluminium, it is essential to maintain the pH within the range of 7–8. Dosage levels for aluminium systems are also higher.

Systems should maintain 400 ppm - 1000ppm of product in the water, while systems with high water losses should maintain ca. 1500 ppm in the system.

DOSAGE: Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate dosages may vary somewhat according to operating conditions, but generally 400-1000 ppm of Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate should be maintained in the system water. This dosage should be doubled for a two-week period when initiating treatment, whenever the system is refilled with fresh water, and after any major system upsets, in order to establish effective corrosion control. If the stability index of the recirculated water is higher than 10.5, an alkalinity booster such as RXSOL pH Booster should be fed to reduce the index to less than 10.5.

Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate is controlled by a molybdate test, which provides easy and accurate control readings. Maintain 1 to 5 ppm MoO4 = at all times.

FEEDING: Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate must be fed continuously to the system by a positive displacement chemical feeder. For maximum results, feed should be linked to makeup of bleedoff through the use of a flowmeter or conductivity controller. Residuals are adjusted and maintained by chemical test of the system to provide a residual of 1-5 ppm MoO4 = .

HANDLING: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear suitable protective equipment (refer to MSDS for further information).

CorroShield L05 Corrosion Inhibitor is a superior molybdate/phosphonate based corrosion inhibitor developed for use in closed cooling water systems. RXSOL-43-4018 prevents corrosion and deposits in closed and aerated cooling water systems. CorroShield L05 Corrosion Inhibitor contains inhibitors for steel, copper and copper alloys in combination with dispersants. RXSOL-43-4018 keeps the surface of the cooling systems clean and provides thus the basis for the formation of an effective corrosion protection film.

It is designed for use in a wide range of open recirculating cooling water systems where clean, scale and deposit-free surfaces are required for maximum system life and efficiency. Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate accomplishes this with one easy to use product, without the need of the synergistic use of a scale inhibitor. Corrosion inhibitor closed cooling systems Molybdate Phosphonate contains a special blend of anodic and cathodic corrosion inhibitors, designed to inhibit corrosion of ferrous metals by creating a passivating barrier.

A specific inhibitor is included also to protect copper alloys from corrosion. It is a blend of molybdate and dispersants designed to provide minimum environmental impact while providing a highly effective corrosion control alternative.

Sodium molybdate has the advantage in that the dosing of lower ppm's of molybdate allow for lower conductivity of the circulating water. Sodium molybdate at levels of 50-100 ppm offer the same levels of corrosion inhibition that sodium nitrite at levels of 800+ ppm. By utilizing lower concentrations of sodium molybdate, conductivity is kept at a minimum and thus galvanic corrosion potentials are decreased.
